Izzy with her new present from Mari. She got early practice for the big b-day!

Izzy learning to open presents. Sorry I didn't rotate this before I posted and now it's stuck that way.

Oh my gosh, look at this big present!

Well we went to the ENT and tubes are in our future. July 2nd is tube day. I am sad she has to go under anesthesia, but if it makes her healthier, I'm all for it.

This weekend Mark and I spent our 5 year anniversary in Lincoln for the Wistrom Foundation golf tourney. Friday night our friends, the Kreifels, took Izzy so Mark and I could enjoy the evening. Then Sat. morning Mark golfed and Izzy and I went to visit my friend Shannon and her three kids. It was really good to see them. Shannon hadn't even met Izzy yet, that's how long it had been. Shannon had her oldest daughter when we were in college and I can't believe how grown up she is now. Time goes by sooo fast!
Then we went to our friend Sarah and Poppy's house and played with the toys and the kittys. I think Izzy may have a little feline allergy, but who knows. I'm always trying to figure out what is wrong with her. I need to quit guessing.

Sarah, Poppy, Izzy, and I loaded up and went to the golf course to meet up with the daddy's. Sarah was taking some pictures of the two girls and Poppy just laid Izzy out. It made her mad. Oh did the tears flow.
Izzy has really gotten into mimicking what we do. She chews when we say "chew" and move our mouth, she shakes her head "no" when we do, puts up the "number 1" with her finger when we do, and the latest.....made me laugh. I was trying to get her ready for school and she wouldn't sit still and was crawling everywhere. I was sitting on the floor and firmly pointed my finger into the carpet and said, "Izzy come here right now." She sat her bottom down from a crawling position and started pointing her finger into the carpet. That little stinker! Gotta love her.

Talk soon!

49 weeks (June 3-June9)

Izzy at her favorite activity table.
Our best buddy, Cletus!

playing in the back yard.

Lovin' some water from the water bottle. Also watering my clothes.

This weekend we went to a friends house for a BBQ. They had the most beautiful back yard. It would be a great place to take pictures. Izzy did a good job eating macaroni and cheese and Daddy gave her her first strawberry. Mom freaked out naturally but she did just fine.

The rest of the week we just bummed around and Izzy is changing all the time. She is pulling up and walking around things. Kind of learning to walk with her push toy and just happy all the time despite her congestion and the fluid on her ears. Next up visit with ENT. Pray!

48 weeks! Counting Down! (May 27th - June 2)

Daddy and Izzy playing airplane.
Izzy loves taking her socks off.

The paper says 48 weeks, but she will never tell you how old she is. She'd rather eat it and hide the evidence.

This week we had Izzy's one year pictures with Amanda Fish. I think they are going to turn out so cute. We had to do it a little early to match schedules, but it is close enough. I had brought a cupcake with a number one candle to take pictures with. Izzy was kind of hesitant at first. She picked the candle off first and put the frosting end in her mouth. After that it was a frosting fest. She would just grab handfuls and Mark finally said it was enough.

Izzy's cold symptoms seem to be getting a little better. She went back to the doctor a couple of days after her Rocephin shot and her ears were still not completely cleared so she got another shot and we have to follow-up with ENT on June 10th. Cross your fingers. I just want my poor baby healthy.

Have a good week!

47 weeks (May 20 to May 26th)

Smiles all around!

More smiles! Gotta love 'em.

Photo shoot outside on a nice sunny day!

She had fun, but for some reason her right foot just wouldn't touch the ground. Even when Mark would push it down, it popped right back up.

Well it's Friday and Izzy still has that nagging fever. It's low, but still there. Mark took her to the doctor and her ears are still red so they put her on a stronger antibiotic. We have to do that for 10 days and then follow-up. Her cough doesn't seem to be getting any better and her nose runs non-stop. Poor baby girl.
Saturday the fever finally went away and so Mark and I decided to go to the Greg Allman concert. We went with some friends of ours and the weather was beautiful. The concert was just ok for me.

Sunday we bummed around and got stuff done around the house. We met some friends at Oscars for dinner and Izzy had a grilled cheese sandwich. She loved it.

Izzy and Emma in St. Louis.

Miss Emma Jane, my great friend, Diane's daughter.

first time eating noodles.

Friday night Izzy and I left for St. Louis. It was our first flight with Izzy and I was doing it all by myself. Needless to say I was a little nervous...Would it hurt her ears?...Will she cry?...How am I going to carry everything? Well the trip was a success. Izzy was a real trooper and had everyone oooing and awwing over her. On the way home a lady even sat with us so she could help and hold Izzy.

In St. Louis I stayed with my friend Diane from Optometry School and saw my other friends, Sabrina, Amber, and Sarah. It was good to see everyone. Izzy didn't sleep very well but she got to play with her new friends Emma and Jacob. Jacob is exactly a month younger than Izzy and it was fun to see the two of them interact with each other.

Izzy has caught another cold. When will it ever give? The poor child has been sick almost her entire existance. Ugh! She just had a cough and runny nose and then on Wednesday she started with a low grade fever of 99-100.8 degrees. She had it again on Thursday. How long do you wait until you take them in? Decisions, decisions.

This week Izzy got to experience speghetti for the first time. She loved it and couldn't get enough. Now we have to think of the next food to try, can't wait.

45 weeks (5/6-5/12)

Our first Mother's Day!
Izzy and Great Grandma

Great Grandma, Grandma, and Izzy

Friday we went back to GI for Mother's Day. Yes, it was my first Mother's Day. It was a great day to realize that you are responsible for such a wonderful human being. The joy that Izzy brings everyday with her smiles and giggles.

Izzy has learned to give high fives and show who is number one and she did these tricks all weekend. Also our parents hadn't seen her crawl yet and so everyone was very excited about her new talents. She gets so much attention when we go to GI that mom and dad just don't cut it when we get home.

Anyway, nothing else is new and hope you are all doing well.

44 weeks

Two of my favorite people.
She just wouldn't look at me.

Man time just gets away from you. I didn't get many pictures this week. What a bad mom.

Izzy is getting better but still feeling a little under the weather. I took her back to the pediatricians office because daycare said she was really tugging on her ear. She has swollen and red ears, but not an infection. She is right on the edge. To treat or not to treat. I am just watching her and if she gets a fever or it gets worse I'll start the AB's. I hate putting her on meds.

Her sleeping habits have been a bit to be desired. She use to get up at 6:15 or 6:30. Now she is getting up anywhere from 5 to 5:45. Any suggestions to get her back into the old rhythm?

Her new things are giving a "5," holding up one finger for number one, she is pulling herself up on things (now when she's up she is standing in her crib letting us know it's time to get up), and raising her arms for "sooo big." It is just such a joy to have her in our lives and watch her do the little things. Hope all is well and Happy Mother's Day next week to all you moms.

My little princess
My friends and I at the wedding. So much fun.

Izzy loves her bath time.

Well, she's crawling all over the place. It has actually been pretty nice because she can come join me in the kitchen if she wants or just play on her playmat. She has the choice now.
This weekend I went to a wedding of one of my friends from Kappa. It was in Lincoln and my girlfriends and I stayed there overnight. Mark had his first alone overnight with Izzy and he was a natural.

Izzy's got a viral infection, ugh! I thought we were through with this crap. Stuffy nose, cough, and pulling at the ears. I took her to the pediatrician and she said that everything including her ears look fine. That is a relief. No antibiotics.

Other than that it has been a pretty quiet weekend. I'm happy the weather is warming up.

42 weeks

Just chillin.' She hates the camera flash.
Izzy and Grayson (Lindsay Huggenberger-Rhoads's son). Grayson kept trying to take Izzy's sweater off and taking her paci.

Macy, the birthday girl, and Izzy.

SHE'S CRAWLING! Izzy started crawling on the 4th day of her 42 week. She first started only crawling if I would entice her, but now she is getting around for more than just that. She doesn't like to crawl on the hard wood floors though. They are too slippery.

Early in this week we went to a birthday party. One of my best friend's little girl turned 6. I can't believe it. Macy was the first of the kids in our little group. I'm just dumbfounded.
Izzy is still doing all the same things. I'll write next week.

Ready for Easter dinner.

This week we went home for our pseudo-Easter. We got to GI around 3 on Saturday and headed to Fonner Park. Izzy didn't think much of the horses in the beginning, but then she really started to watch them the closer we got to the track. She was the only one that came out ahead. All of our tips were completely bogus.

Sunday we went to Grandma and Grandpa D's for Easter lunch. Great grandmas and grandpas were there, aunts, uncles, cousins, and great aunts and uncles. We had a very nice lunch. Grand Island was a quick trip, but it was nice to be home.

The rest of this week was pretty uneventful. The little turkey hasn't done anything new. Talk to you soon.
