39 weeks (Aug 27-Sept 2)

Hope they love each other like this in a few years.

I think I caught Izzy off gaurd.

Silly Izzy!

Love!

A daddy and his girls.
Here I am again weeks behind. I don’t know where the time goes. I have taken to writing events that happened in my calendar and coming back to putting it on the blog. This week was so busy I even forgot to take pictures until the last day.  So here we go.

Addie is rolling all over the place. If she wants something she rolls to it. No more arms getting stuck. She has it down pat. She is starting to pull up a little if I have my hands out but she is not pulling up on anything else. She loves to just stand there. I think it’s because it makes her taller.

She is getting close to crawling. She leans forward from a sitting position and gets on all fours, but her leg is stuck. She can’t go anywhere and she sits back down. I give her three more weeks. Izzy started crawling her 42nd week. We’ll see!

Izzy is a whole other story. She has been so naughty this past week. Mark took her to swim lessons so I could get something done. When they got home she was just crying hysterically because Mark wouldn’t let her stay and watch Mr. Dan dive. She cried the rest of the night. During this fit she saw her friend Maia outside and she wanted to go play. I told her she wasn’t being nice and she couldn’t go play. This set her off in a whole other direction. She even uttered the words, “You are ruining my life.” How does she even know to say this stuff? Isn’t that phrase supposed to come in the teen years?
On the other hand she can be so sweet and go on and on about how she loves her family. Oh, and speaking of love, I was pulled aside at the girls’ school and informed that my daughter is kissing a little boy behind the easel. When I asked her why she was kissing boys she said, “Because I like to kiss boys. “ Since then she has also been caught kissing our little neighbor too. Oh Lord I hope this is only a phase. I think Mark is going to self-combust.

On Wednesday I joined two of my girlfriends for dinner before book club. We never made it to book club and it was a really nice get away for me. I just don’t know what to do with Izzy. I hope this phase of horrible tantrums, not listening, and kissing boys all goes away and goes away soon.

38 weeks

Showing off her own weekly sign.

Izzy serenading Addie.

Checking out the fork from her picnic set.

This is our pouty Izzy. We see this face often.

Swim lessons for Izzy are going great. She loves the water and is starting to pull herself up on the side of the pool well.
Addie is getting such a little personality. Between her chubby cheeks and large spaced teeth she is just adorable. Maybe I’m a bit biased. She has started repeating me. I was trying to get her to say “uh-oh” and she finally did it. So dang cute! She has also started giving high fives. If you hold your hand up and say, “High five” she will put her hand up to yours. She is also rocking to the point where she is almost up on all fours. She will be crawling soon. She is the last one in her class to crawl. Cheer her on! Izzy was 42 weeks. That is my goal. I’m going to work with her a lot over Labor Day weekend.

On Saturday we went to Mark’s cousin’s wedding. Izzy was so infatuated with the “princess” that I had to literally pry her away from Dessa. She was so excited when she paid her dollar to the purple princess to dance with the white princess. She hung out all night with her cousin Ladelle. Izzy calls her Dell. Ladelle is 9 years old and is soooo good with Iz. Izzy just idolizes her. We had to rush back after the wedding because Mark had a case the next morning at 7. He worked all day and didn’t get home until 8:30 that night.

Sunday Izzy started having a terrible temper tantrum and we couldn’t control her crying. Holy cow, I thought Mark was going to jump out our bedroom window. My Aunt Cindy and Uncle George were staying at our house because they were flying out to Rome the next morning. So, my Uncle George slept in Izzy’s bed and you would have thought the world was coming to an end. She wanted to sleep in her bed. Which I thought was weird because she never does. She would rather sleep on the couch. Then she kept saying that George in her bed made it “just weird.” Where this child gets this stuff is beyond me. Finally Mark put up the Pack n Play since she didn’t want to sleep in our bed.  She got in the Pack n Play fine but I had to hold her hand.  As my arm is falling asleep from hanging it over the side she finally falls asleep. I don’t know if I can do the three year old thing. She is getting tough. I’ll keep you updated on this fun adventure.

37 weeks (Aug 13th-20th)

I didn't get a weekly picture. I feel like life flashes before my eyes and before I know it another week is gone.

I loved this innocent picture of Izzy's profile. I wish she would stay little forever.

Addie loving the Jeep. This was a great second go around toy.

 My little peanut.
Addie is doing well. She has a little cold this week and is really stuffed up. But she is still my happier baby. She still needs lots of attention. Every time I set her down to do something she gets upset and starts to cry. Needless to say my house is a mess and my laundry is piled so high I can hide behind it.
Saturday we took Addie to the allergist to see if that is why she is coughing. She was tested for dog, dust, wheat, oats, milk and soy. Everything came up negative. That is excited we don’t have to worry about the dog or her diet, but it still doesn’t solve our problems. The doctor thought it was reflux, but that she should be getting over soon since she is going to be more upright in the next few months. She did give us an inhaler to try and control the inflammation. Well, it’s not going so well. She hits the chamber away from her face all the time. I’ve been trying to do it when she falls asleep at night, but there are often times that back fires because I wait for her to get into a deep sleep and then I forget to give it to her. I promise I will get better.

Izzy is her usual sweet and sassy self. Not much new with her.

Hope everyone is doing well.

36 weeks

Our little princess is growing up. Darn I wish these pictures were a little clearer.
This one perfectly dislplays the wide gapped teeth. We love them more and more!

 Bath time!
Izzy at DiVentures, trying to feel it out.

Izzy started swim lessons this week. We are taking her to Diventures swim school. She cried for the first 10 minutes because she wanted me to be in the pool with her. But with the help of the staff she quickly got over it and loved it. She is so excited to go back the next week.
On Wednesday we went to Laura’s memorial dinner. It was very nice. She didn’t have a funeral because she just wanted a celebration of her life. She was such a beautiful person. I wish it would have worked out differently for her.

The rest of the week is a blur and I can’t tell you much else. The girls are doing great. Addie is still trying to master the art of rolling but it is getting better. She just keeps getting her arm stuck. Oh well, it will come.

Talk later,

Ari

35 weeks (July 30th-Aug 5th)

Precious time with Sophie the giraffe.

My crazy lady.
At my friend Mari's baby shower in Austin.

Oh poor Addie has caught something again. I had Wednesday afternoon off for a doctor appointment and then I went home to pack the girls up. I got a call from school saying Addie was having a bad day and she had thrown up twice. So I quit packing and went to get her. When I picked her up she threw up all over me too. I felt horrible and started crying, and the ladies at daycare probably thought I was crazy. I got home and gave her a little water and she threw that up too. I later learned that water doesn’t sit well with them and it is surely to come back up. So I took her to urgent care since the girls were going to leave the next day for Grandma and Grandpa’s. They checked her over and said she looked great, probably just a virus. So off to Grandma and Grandpa’s they went the next day.
Addie has started clapping. She dances and smiles and giggles while she is doing it. She is getting to be such a good baby, now only if she could be 100% healthy. Some day! We have also introduced the sippy cup, but she isn’t quite coordinated enough. It will be soon though.

So Wednesday we took the girls to GI and then Mark and I went to a show at the Rose Theater. We went to Rebecca Rosen, a psychic medium, and it was not a great show. I was a believer until that show. Some of it was good, but other readings were kind of hokie. Then after the show we went home to pack. Mark went to Memphis for work and I went to Austin for my friend Mari’s baby shower. While we were away my parents and grandparents took Izzy camping. She loved it. She said she saw a real fire called a camping fire. It was at the neighbor’s camp site. She got to swim and have good camping breakfasts.

When we got back we found out we lost our friend Laura to her battle with lung cancer. She was such a beautiful woman inside and out. Seems unfair she only got 39 years on this earth. She was a psychologist and did good things for so many people. I don’t understand why? Laura loved Izzy.  She just wanted to get well enough to give Izzy her birthday gift. Mark had to bring it home one night after taking dinner to Laura’s fiancĂ© and her family. She never got to give it to Izzy herself.

Life is short, live it!

34 weeks (july 23-29th)

We use to put this on Izzy's head, now she does it to Addie.
Our rockstar.

Hanging in the swing.
Showing Addie how it's done sandbox style.

Our old friend Cletus.
Gosh, here I am behind again. I wonder when I will catch up on my life. I do remember that Miss Addie started babbling “dadadada.” That was an exciting day for Mark. Now she has it mastered, both Mama and Dada, now just getting her to understand what she is saying.  She’s still not rolling from front to back. I don’t think it’s going to happen, but as long as she gets around it’s ok. I truly don’t think crawling is going to be too far off. She will lean way forward to reach something and end up on her tummy. It is just a matter of time when she leans over onto her knees and off she goes.
Addie also got her first experience in the sandbox. She loved it. Of course she wanted to explore it with her mouth. I watched her closely, but she still managed to taste it.

Izzy is growing every day. I can’t believe how fast it is going. I wish I could remember everything she says, because she is so witty at the age of three. She is playing a lot at the neighbor’s house and loves it. I remember the days of running around the neighborhood and coming in late at night. She isn’t quite there yet but it’s just around the corner. Soon we will be having sleep overs.

Hope you are all doing well,
Ariann

33 weeks (July 16th-27th)

My good little sleeper. At least at night, daytime is another story.
Izzy and her "boyfriend" Finn.
Addie is mad at something. She must be getting ignored.
Izzy is totally into make-up these days.
Mark’s Grandma Brown passed away on the 18th of July. She will be greatly missed. She was one tough lady and always made the lemons into lemonade. She will definitely be missed. My favorite times with her were when Mark and I would take pizza to her, Susan, and Shirley for our Christmas celebration.  We left for Clay Center on Friday afternoon and the funeral was on Saturday in Harvard. Good bye grandma we will miss you.
We came home Saturday after the luncheon and Izzy went over to play with the neighbor kids. We ended up staying over there and enjoying our evening. Sunday we just had a productive family day. Trying to keep organized and stay on top of cleaning the house. It feels like there are toys and dog hair everywhere. Mark filled the pool so Iz could play in it and she fell asleep. Sunday afternoon, Addie started getting a bad cough (different from the one she already has) and was getting a raspy voice. I suppose she is getting sick again. This poor child can’t cut a break.
Addie is holding her bottles a little better. She grabs them and takes them to her mouth but then can’t figure out how to tip it. It’s right around the corner. Now if only she could roll to her back. I’m tired of getting up and having to roll her when she can’t figure it out and it makes her mad.
Izzy has been bribed with a baby. She really wants this baby and I told her only if she is good for a whole week. So she will do something nice, like say thank you or clean up and then she will look at me and go, “Can I get the baby now?” I have to tell her repeatedly that she already lost it because she couldn’t go an hour without being sassy, throwing things, or throwing a tantrum if she didn’t get her way.  She doesn’t quite get it, she still thinks she is getting a baby.

Other things Izzy wanted this week was for me to cut off my princess dress so she could wear it. She was referring to my wedding dress. Somehow we were looking through our wedding book and Izzy thought I had a beautiful princess dress. Her infatuation with princesses is relentless.
Izzy has finally given up the paci. While she was home at my parents,' she decided she was a big girl and didn't need it anymore. We are supplementing with other things like babies, toys, books, etc. As long as it isn't the paci she is taking to bed, I don't care what she ends up with. Also she has been doing big girl panties to bed. She just grew up in the matter of a weekend. Whew!
Hoping it’s a phase.
